About Us
The Brewery
Patrick Kelleher didn’t have much interest in beer until someone showed him the dark side of it—literally. Once he discovered there was more to beer than big-brand American lagers, his interest grew. Curiosity developed into hobby, hobby turned into passion. His passion and his studies in Organic Chemistry at OSU collided when he discovered homebrewing. He quickly managed to fill every nook and cranny of his house on Neil Avenue with buckets and carboys. Graduation came up and Patrick made a choice—to turn his homebrewing into a viable career. So began the Neil House Brewery.
Patrick and the team have dedicated themselves to providing Columbus, and soon, more of Ohio, with delicious, all-natural beers. They take fresh barley, natural hops, and pure water and transform them into outstanding, preservative-free beer and cider. Because they are all unfiltered and preservative-free, it’s best to keep this beer refrigerated. Each bottle is hand-brewed, hand-bottled, hand-labeled, and given personal attention by every member of the Brew Crew. Patrick and the staff are determined to put out only the highest-quality, most awesome craft brews they can, and get them to your home, store, or bar.
Company
The running joke around the shop is that the Neil House Brewery is just a bunch of college kids who decided to open up their own business one day. Patrick started developing recipes in college and immediately after graduating jumped headfirst into planning and opening the business. His friends helped him slog through the paperwork and getting started, all while they were living in the titular Neil House.
The Neil House was located right north of OSU campus, and quickly became the epicenter of a very tight group of friends in the years right before the company opened. It was the place to go for a good, friend and fun filled time. The Neil House was filled with goofy shenanigans on a regular basis. It was in this house, which is artistically rendered on the NHB labels that Patrick and friends decided to open the company. The company was named after the Neil House because Patrick wanted to take some of that singular awesomeness, bottle it up, and share it with all of Columbus.
